Silver Lake State Park encompasses 3,000 acres along the Lake Michigan shoreline. It’s home to nearly 2,000 acres of sand dunes, a modern campground, a day-use area on inland Silver Lake and a popular 500-acre ORV scramble area.  

The Hart-Montague Trail State Park is a paved, 22-mile trail passing through rural, forested lands. Scenic overlooks and picnic areas are located along the route. There is a trailhead right next door to Hansen Foods at 3750 W Polk Rd, Hart, MI 49420. The trails goes through the following communities: Montague, Rothbury, Shelby, Mears, and Hart.  In the winter it becomes a snowmobile trail.

Reasonably priced and great for all ages!  Don't miss out on the Silver Lake Chicken Shack next door, which has terrific roasted chicken and wings. 

Open mid May through end of September. Mac Woods Dunes Rides, 629 N. 18th St, Mears, MI 49436.  An exciting experience, climbing to the summit and showing you a breathtaking panoramic view of the dune area. You drive along Lake Michigan, drive past the sparkling Silver Lake, and glide down sweeps into the valleys. Visitors of all ages enjoy this scenic ride and return again and again.  

A great place to take your kids!  The farm has many rotating attractions through the seasons like corn mazes, apple picking, pumpkin patches, go-carts, sledding hills, jumping pillow, ropes course, and of course, over 100 animals to pet.  Not far away is the Country Dairy farm, where you can get bottomless chocolate milk with your food order and the best ice cream in Michigan. 

Pentwater boasts art museums, shops, restaurants, and a quaint downtown. Mears State Park is a terrific camping spot as well. 

Take a day trip up to Ludington!  Here you'll find one of the most renown and beautiful state parks in Michigan.  The social district is comprised of 10+ restaurants and bars that allow you to stroll between them with drink in hand.  On the way home, do a quick stop at the pumped storage facility, the fifth largest battery in the world!
